Harvesting Free Palatal Masticatory Mucosal Graft Using 3a Mucotome
نویسنده
چکیده
The technique of free autogenous gingival grafting (FGG) has undergone little modification since its introduction by Bjorn in Scandinavia in 1963 [1] and by King and Pennel in the United States in 1964 [2]. The technique is widely used to treat a variety of mucogingival problems such as insufficient or lack of attached gingiva, the presence of high frenum attachments, shallow fornix and denuded roots following gingival recession [3-5]. FGG can be procured from donor site using scalpels, gingivectomy knife or palatal shaving knife (Paquette knife). The donor site is frequently the palate, although the use of edentulous ridge areas, tuberosity and attached gingiva has also been described. Scalpel is most commonly used and conventional method for procuring gingival autografts. Gingivectomy knife, although not commonly used, also works on similar principle.

AIM To treat mucogingival problems palatal masticatory mucosa is used as a donor material. This study aimed to determine the thickness of donor palatal mucosa and associations of age and gender in Indian subjects aged 14 to 60 years by direct clinical technique. متن کاملPalate Mucoperosteum: An Usefull Adjunct in Buccal Mucosa Reconstruction
Background: Palate is a complex structure separating oro- and nasopharynx. However, reconstruction of the defects of palate is much simpler because of the versatile mucoperiosteal flaps. Here, we present our experience of palatal mucoperiosteal flap used in different situations. Methods: Fifteen patients of palatal as well as buccal mucosa defects were reconstructed using either free or pedicl...
متن کاملClosure of a Tracheocutaneous Fistula With a Local Turnover Flap Combined With Pregrafted Palatal Mucosa: A Case Report
Objectives: A method of closing a large tracheocutaneous fistula by a combination of a palatal mucosal graft with a turnover adiposal flap is presented. Methods: Mucosa of the same size as the tracheal defect was harvested from the hard palate and grafted just caudal to the fistula. After the mucosal graft had taken, a local flap containing the mucosal graft was turned over the tracheal defect ...
متن کاملLip Reconstruction with a Palatal Mucoperiosteal Graft
In the repair of lip defects, the reconstructive surgeons’ goals are to preserve lip function and achieve an aesthetically acceptable outcome. When choosing the type of repair, to the surgeon considers the defect’s size and location. Mucosal grafts, such as those taken from labial, buccal, and palatal mucosa, are typically used for lip reconstruction [14]. Free mucosal grafts have several advan...
